Our School Day

Life at Overbury School is rich and varied with no two days being the same. Our school vision clearly sets out our aspirations for every day: “God has given each of you gifts from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”  Peter 4:10.

At Overbury, our school day is founded on Christian values.  We aim to provide a caring, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.  We encourage each pupil to grow academically, socially and spiritually.  Through warm relationships, nurturing instruction, and high expectations, we help children build confidence, compassion and a love of learning.  Our goal is that each child leaves each day feeling safe, encouraged and excited about what they can become.

Peer Mediators

In the playground we have peer mediators, who help to sort out any problems or deal with any worries that other children may have.  Every year children write to the Headteacher to explain why they think they would make a good peer mediator.

Our peer mediators say that they enjoy being a peer mediator because they are helping others make friends again so they can be happy.  Our Christian values of love, joy and friendship help them do their jobs.

Global Neighbours

At Overbury CE First School, we are proud to be a Silver Award school in Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme, recognising our commitment to helping children understand their role as global citizens. Through learning, reflection, and action, we encourage everyone to use their gifts to care for others, the environment, and our community.

Global Connections: We have strong links with Kaps School in Malawi, sharing art, culture, and friendship through letters, online meetings, and fundraising projects. Our pupils have raised money to support education, clean water, sewing machines and essential resources for partner schools.

Community and Fundraising: Every year, pupils organise events such as the Macmillan Coffee Morning, book sales and the Christmas Fayre, raising funds for global and local causes including Save the Children and St.Faith’s with Malawi.

Learning for change: Global citizenship is embedded throughout our curriculum.  In addition, during our annual Global Neighbours Week, pupils explore how children around the world live and learn, reflecting on issues such as poverty, education, housing and equality.

Overbury’s pupils continue to grow as global neighbours—thoughtful, compassionate individuals who act for change both locally and worldwide.
