Spring Term 2024

Geography

Through geography, pupils can explore and investigate their understanding of people, places and environments throughout the world, learning to ask geographical questions.  Pupils develop their skills in problem solving and using maps, giving them an insight into adult life and employment.  Within this subject, pupils gain an understanding of environmental issues and sustainable development, how we affect the environment and how it affects us.  It promotes an awareness of the cultures and societies of other nations as well as greater understanding about our rights and responsibilities to other people and the environment.

There are a wide variety of ways in which pupils can develop geographical skills – these include resources such as globes, maps, and plans; local and national trips. Geographical enquiry is also developed through the wide use of ICT including the internet, satellite images and photographs.
